David Cook

David has worked as an Environmental Health Officer in Local Government for over 20 years. This role involves working on just about anything related to public health. From inspecting food businesses and septic tanks, responding to noise complaints and assessing safety aspects of large outdoor concerts to name a few.

David’s day to day work also involves providing advice to the community about asbestos safety. This can include responding to reports of poor asbestos removal practices, and dealing with registered contaminated sites that have asbestos impacted soils from either past land uses or dumping.

David is currently the Coordinator, Health Services at the City of Swan in Perth. He also sits on the City’s Local Emergency Management Committee and Local Recovery Committee.
In February 2021 a large bushfire damaged a significant number of asbestos structures in the City of Swan. David led the City’s response to managing this asbestos.
